Here Come The Judges!

Being forced to live without cable has been the absolute worst for me. Regular television programming lacks informative, educational shows. However, they do provide a different sort of entertainment....Judge shows!
I have been trying to figure out what is the worst of two evils: soap operas or judge shows. Soap operas are so mundane. Either the writers are bored with the story lines so they create these scenarios that are a bit too much to follow, or the actors seem to be getting younger and younger and less interesting. In either respect I opt to turn off my idiot box. When I do leave the tube on and I channel surf, I am faced with game shows galore, latin programs, and yes...judge shows.
It appears as though everyone these days are judges. There is a judge for this and that. Upset with your neighbor? Take him to court! Want a divorce? Do it on television in front of millions of Americans. Need to determine paternity? Expose your scandalous behavior on national television. It just seems to go on and on.
I completely gave up on talk shows. Jerry Springer was enough back in the day. Now everyone is a talk show host and the shows are getting raunchier and raunchier. Everyone these days insist on exposing their dirty laundry on national television and that to me is scary.
Let's take these judge shows for instance. In the morning you're literally innundated with a plethora of judges ready to take your case. I think I am outdone with the cases that need to determine paternity. Please explain to me why a person would choose to go into court knowing they haven't been honest with the people they are suing let alone themselves and try to hash out paternity. The women stand up and claim complete innocence until the judge reads the results of the test. Then they stand there dumbfounded and shocked as if they didn't already know the man they were suing wasn't the father of their children. The cases I have heard have been unreal. I am often disgusted by the women that stand in confidence that "he is the one" that fathered their children, regardless of the five or six other men that they may have slept with.
What about borrowing money from your family and friends only to have them take you to court because you didn't pay them back. Now all of your dirty laundry is aired and once again the person stands bewildered that they are being sued. Uhhhh how about paying back what you owe?
Then there are the divorces. With a subject as sensitive as divorce, is there a reason why it needs to be shared with millions? I have watched cases where everything from fidelity to paternity was being discussed and once again the women and men stood confident that they never cheated on their spouses and were loving and true...that is until their lies were dispelled.
I have a novel idea: why don't we go to court and actually tell the truth. I mean isn't that the whole idea when you are sworn in before the judge? That would cut down on the buffoonery on television and maybe programmers will actually show something substantial like news. Now there is a brilliant idea!
