Shut Up: Ode to Co-Workers and Cubicles

Now it is amazing how rude and inconsiderate people are at work, especially in a cubicle setting. You have people that will babble on and on and on while others are trying to work...Oh yeah excuse me, some of us are serious about working when they clock in....Not just there specifically to collect a paycheck after going to the gym on company hours, and talking all day long about stuff that isn't business related (and still get paid for a full eight hours of work) just talking.....
Those are the very same ones who spend all day talking (either on the phone with their family and friends ) or in front of other peoples' cubes: then wait until the last minute to ask someone to take care of a task they were supposed to complete, because they were "too busy" to do so...why? Because they spent the entire day "talking"
Oh wait....when you do decide to work it's a friggin joke because "now" all of a sudden there is so much to do and so little time...everything is hurried and sloppy, but hey, it's better to talk all day than get paid for what you were hired for....Come on let's talk....
SHUT UP!!!
Do you think we care about your husbands, your new cars, your mothers, your shopping trip, your vacation, your dog, your cat, your flowers, your baking, the flood that occured in your home with the mold growing in your closets, your medication, your hot flashes, your rash, your sex life, your non-existent sex life, etc....No...what we care about is the increased amount of "noise" pollution around our cubicles....
Sorry folks, we're not in offices, I hear everything you have to say and can tell you about your entire family or about your weekend...why? Because you spend the entire day talking and I have no choice (even with headphones on to drown out the drone in your voice) but to listen to your idle chatter, which is a distraction....Distraction folks....and that cuts down on productivity...and what happens when employers discover their employees have cut down on productivity...Well you figure it out, the serious working ones are those who lose their jobs while the Chatterers continue to steal from the company with the endless lunches, workouts at the gym, long drawn out conversations on the phone (company and cell) with family and friends, come in late, leave early, and shop during company time....now that's what I call "productivity"
Cubicle etiquette 101:
SHUT UP!!! Your co-workers will thank you ;-)
